Homecoming Weekend

Homecoming Weekend October 19-21, 2007 was a great success! Alumnae and the Notre Dame community participated in and enjoyed the many events.

Roses at HomecomingThe weekend began with an intimate cocktail party in Ryan Hall on Friday October 19th honoring those alumnae who have donated to the Expansion for Excellence Campaign.
Dr. Lorraine Pasadino President, Notre Dame Academy and Dr. Jill O’Donnell Tormey ’73, Chair of the campaign reported on its progress and spoke words of thanks to those who have been so generous.

Saturday afternoon October 20th was a beautiful warm, sunny day; the campus was bustling with alums touring their Alma Mater, and sharing memories with spouses, parents and their children. The barbeque under the tent on the lawn was a great place for alums to meet and relax during the afternoon.

Saturday evening began with the Homecoming Liturgy. Sr. Anne Seeley with her choir, and bell ringers led alumnae, parents, and students in songs of praise and thanksgiving to open the evening.

The Alumnae Homecoming Reunion Dinner began immediately after liturgy in Ryan Hall. More than 230 attended! Alumnae and their guests from the classes of 1931 through 2002 were present. The 50th Anniversary class of 1957, and the 25th Anniversary class of 1982 were honored, as well as the anniversary class years ending in ‘2 and ‘7.

Fran Geiser Dirks ’79 President, Alumnae Association welcomed alumnae and guests as well as the many Congregation of Notre Dame sisters who attended. A special friend and supporter of NDA, Sr. Mary Caplice, Province Leader, CND USA, former Social Studies and Religion Teacher at NDA High School, was present to celebrate the evening with us.

Dr. Lorraine Pasadino, President of Notre Dame Academy, and Sr. M. Stacey Hanrahan President, Board of Trustees at NDA introduced the guest of honor, Sr. Anne Leonard, Honorary Chair of the Expansion for Excellence Campaign, and former principal of the NDA Elementary School. Sr. Anne’s remarks included special memories of her time spent here at NDA, memories shared by many alums present. After a buffet dinner, each of the anniversary classes was recognized, and photographed by Ron Jordan Natoli to commemorate the evening. The room was abuzz with the energy of reunion, and the expression of love for Notre Dame.

Two lucky alumnae won 50/50 drawings:
The mail in 50/50 winner is Kathleen Mahoney Andich ‘62
The reunion dinner 50/50 winner is Alice DiIorio Morris ‘57
Congratulations to both lucky winners, and thank you for your support of the Alumnae Association!

The Alumnae Association wishes to give special thanks to the class agents. Each class agent volunteered her time to personally invite each of her classmates to attend, and in doing so drew classmates from far and wide back to NDA to enjoy the evening. Special thanks also to Grace Curcio Scheibner ’62, the class agent coordinator, who guided the class agents all along the way. They are to be congratulated for making the evening such a spectacular success!
