Belief Statements

Flowing from our Mission, our belief statements were created in an age-appropriate language for both school divisions by alumnae, parents, trustees, administrators and students. They clearly articulate who we are as a community, what we value and to what we hold ourselves accountable.

We believe... that excellence in liberating education, which transforms the individual into an agent of change, is our sacred tradition, our collective commitment, and our relentless pursuit.

We believe...that single sex education liberates young women’s boundless potential and gifts, and positions them as future history-makers and leaders.

We believe... that Visitation Spirituality based on the Gospel encounter of Mary and Elizabeth, impels and shapes all relationships with caring and compassion, integrity and respect, and responsibility and active justice.

We believe... that instilling global awareness and responsibility engages students in social affairs through commitment to justice, service, and equality.

We believe... that establishing school-community relationships engenders mutual respect, open-mindedness, inclusivity, moral responsibility, and accountability.

We believe... that curriculum encompasses the content taught, the teaching/learning process, the environment, and the intended learning outcome.

We believe... that lifelong learning is essential for continuous transformation.

Elementary School

As a Catholic community founded on the transforming mission of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys and dedicated exclusively to the education of girls:

We believe that each girl is a true original filled with a divine light which only she can radiate to the world.

We believe each girl is on a spiritual journey maturing from a child of God to a young woman of the Gospel.

We believe in academic excellence which is innovative and cutting-edge moving continuously from good to great.

We believe in cultivating leadership in each girl which is defined by integrity, imagination and the courage to stand up for her own rights and needs and the rights and needs of others.

We believe in being a welcoming, inclusive community
which embraces all members of our local, national and global families with justice and compassion.
