Temidayo Orederu has received recognition from the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Out of 150,000 who participated, she is one of 4700 to be recognized.
Community Board #2 honored Alexis Savattere and Elizabeth LoPresti (both 2008) for service.
Krista Carbonara (2008) received the Jean Cacciaguida Scholarship Award given by the Staten Island Women's Division of the American Committee on Italian Migration.
Amanda Silva (2008) is a finalist in the Chase Scholarship Program.
Ashley Bohnenberger (2011) has been recognized for her Art project by the Staten Island English Reading Association and it is on display in the Main Office.
Representatives from the French Embassy visited students in our French classes with Ms. Pinsky and discussed with them the projects students completed on the use of the French language and its culture.
In the Staten Island Academic Olympics we received the following awards: Keely Mohin (10th Grade) 3rd place for History, Jasmine Ahuja (11th Grade) 1st place for Physics and Regina DeSantis (12th Grade) for AP English.
Melissa Mrozinski (2010), Chelsea Deignan (2009), Breanne Sweeney (2008), and Elizabeth McComiskey (2008) were recognized as SI Advance All Stars in swimming.
Mr. Hernon has received a grant from All State to promote Safe Teen Driving on our TV station - representatives will award the check on TV.
Kamica O'Gilvie (2008) has received a scholarship from the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association.
Violeta Capric, Jill Pucciarelli, Nora King, Stephanie Monohan, and Teresa Lord (all 2008) have received 2008 Series Scholarships for Academic Excelllence from the State Department of Education.
On April 26, 2008, Ms. Cimino and fifteen membrs of the Interact Club made a breakfast run to help feed the homeless in New York City. Members of the Club also served as hostesses for the Mid Island Rotary fundraiser on May 2, 2008.
