Marguerite's Way

A Brick Walkway Uniting the Schools

Marguerite's Way

Sr. Stacy Hanrahan speaking about Marguerite's Way:
May this path on which we will walk:

  • be a pathway of welcome and hospitality,
  • A pathway to compassionate justice,
  • A pathway to learning the language of non-violence,
  • A pathway to laughter, to gratitude and to hope,
  • A pathway to understanding the interconnections of all created life,
  • A pathway to conversation with the source and giver of life,
  • A pathway to our loving God.
In our research for the Centennial, a picture of the Villa (the Library) was discovered which showed a curving gravel path leading from the front of the Villa to the Elementary School on one side and the High School on the other. It united the entire campus.

The Centennial Committee was inspired to recreate this path for NDA for the next 100 years. The path is a multipurpose and multiyear project. It provides a permanent, visible legacy of people and memories associated with NDA; generates monies to enhance NDA's education; facilitates movement and access to our buildings; and beautifies our campus.

Dr. and Mrs. Louis DeSantis chair this endeavor.

Marguerite's WayMarguerite's Way is an inspirational name for this campus renewal. Certainly, the path is a way to walk from one end of the campus to the other. At a deeper level, Marguerite's Way symbolizes the raison d'etre of NDA. St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, the inspiration for our schools existence, exercised a way of being in relationship to others and to the world. It was a way that was modeled on the visitation of Mary and Elizabeth, a way of listening, openness, inclusion, peace, social responsibility, transformation, and a global focus. NDA is one-of-a-kind and so is the name of this project.

You can become part of this legacy of NDA. Each brick, lamp post and Reflection Bench can be purchased with your personalized engraved message.
