Daily Prayer - Week of April 20

Prayer for Friday, April 24, 2020

Today’s Prayer is adapted from Beth Maxwell Boyle (courtesy of Laura Parisi)

The world now is too dangerous yet too beautiful for anything but Love. May our eyes be so blessed we see You, God, in everyone,

Our ears so we hear the cry of the poor. May our hands be so blessed that everything we touch is a sacrament. Our lips so we speak nothing but the truth with love.

May our feet be so blessed to run to those who need us, as our healthcare workers run. And may our hearts be opened again – set on fire – that YOUR LOVE may change everything.

Our Lady and St. Marguerite, continue to be with us on this journey.

Amen

Prayer for Thursday, Earth Prayer by Mark Nepo, April 23, 2020

Endless Creator, Force of Life, Seat of the Unconscious, Dharma, Atman, Ra, Qalb, Dear Center of our Love, Christlight, Yaweh, Allah, Mawu, Mother of the Universe.

Let us, when swimming with the stream, become the stream...Let us, when moving with the music, become the music...Let us, when rocking the wounded, become the suffering...

Let us live deep enough till there is only one direction...and slow enough till there is only the beginning of time...and loud enough in our hearts till there is no need to speak...

Let us live for the grace beneath all we want, let us see it in everything and everyone, till we admit to the mystery that when I look deep enough into you, I find me, and when you dare to hear my fear in the recess of your heart, you recognize it as your secret which you thought no one else knew...

O let us embrace that unexpected moment of unity as the atom of God...Let us have the courage to hold each other when we break and worship what unfolds...

O Nameless Spirit that is not done with us, let us love without a net – beyond the fear of death until the speck of peace we guard so well becomes the world...

Prayer for Wednesday, April 22, 2020, Earth Day

As we are called to see ourselves and each other as earthen vessels

that hold God's presence and bring God's gifts to the world,

so too, this very WORLD and all that is above, around and within it

are earthen vessels – just as easily shattered,

just as much in need of our loving attentiveness and support.

May our hands align with God's in caressing and shaping these vessels.

For trees, plants, crops, and forests. Let us pray.

For water, oceans, rivers, streams and ponds. Let us pray.

For air, wind, climate and weather. Let us pray.

For sun, clean energy and prevention of global warning. Let us pray.

For animals, especially endangered species.  Let us pray.

For all humankind.  Let us pray.

For recycling and moderate personal consumption.  Let us pray.

For proper use of chemicals and disposal of toxic waste.   Let us pray.

For our Earth and Unity.   Let us pray.

Creator God, we thank you for all of creation.

We ask your forgiveness where we have failed to be just stewards.

And we ask for your guidance in restoring the face of the earth.

May we learn to live in harmony, safety,

and just sharing of resources among all

so that we achieve the kingdom of God.

Peace be to this community.

Peace be to this land.

Peace be to all people.    Amen.

Prayer for Tuesday, April 21, 2020

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your Mercy in us, that in difficult moments like now, we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Let us breathe in Mercy and release peace.

Amen.

Prayer for Monday, April 20, Prayer for Divine MERCY Sunday

Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like our heavenly Father,

and You have told us that whoever sees You sees Him.

Show us Your face and we will be saved.

Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus, and Matthew

And Mary Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things;

made Peter weep after his betrayal,

and assured Paradise to the repentant thief.

Let us hear today, as if addressed to each of us,

the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman:

"If you knew the gift of God!"

You are the visible face of the invisible Father,

of the God who manifests His power above all by Forgiveness and Mercy:

let the Church be Your visible face in the world,

body of our Lord, risen and glorified.

Send your Spirit and consecrate and anoint every one of us

that we may be instruments of Your Mercy – Love in word and action.

Renew our enthusiasm as followers of Your Son,

so we may bring good news to the poor,

proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed,

and restore sight to the blind in OUR day.

We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy,

and You who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit

forever and ever. Amen.
